ZEDE del Litoral receives Easymetering as its new member of the innovation ecosystem. The company received approval from the Sectorial Cabinet of Productive Development on January 18th, 2023, for a 20-year term.
Easymetering is a company that enhances power meters using an electronic device, enabling the recording and transmission of energy consumption data through a cellular operator to their centralized management platform. The objective is to empower electricity companies to manage and oversee energy parameters globally.
For Byron Rojas, the founding president of Easymetering, being part of ZEDE del Litoral benefits their company's international trade operations, software development, and hardware manufacturing.
"In the case of our company, our competitors aren't local but rather global corporations. Having a zone with incentives that enable us to compete is of utmost importance," he added.
Rojas mentioned that they have reserved 3,000 square meters of land for the construction of their new offices. They plan to establish a 5G network laboratory, develop prototypes using 3D printers and CNC machines, increase production capacity, and create a department dedicated solely to research and development, including a renewable energy research center. "This goal was already part of our business plan, and when I learned about ZEDE del Litoral, I found it spectacular," he expressed.
Sergio Flores, president of ZEDE del Litoral and former rector of ESPOL, also highlights the connection between ZEDE's companies and the ESPOL. "The knowledge and intellect that the polytechnic talent brings are essential to business," he emphasized.
On February 3rd, an event took place to officially launch Easymetering's operation within ZEDE del Litoral. Representatives from both sides participated, celebrating this new partnership.
